Welcome to Pathology Informatics at MU!
University of Missouri's Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences formed the Division of Pathology Informatics in 2014 to promote the applications of informatics expertise and digital pathology into the department’s clinical and academic missions. Originally led by Dr. Dmitriy Shin, the Division has spearheaded Translational Bioinformatics research, introduced digital whole-slide image analysis, and fostered close cross-disciplinary ties with faculty from MU Informatics Institute (now MU Institute for Data Science and Informatics).
The division participates in research in imaging informatics, pathology informatics, precision medicine informatics, brain damage imaging, diagnostics heuristics and other pathology- and informatics-related topics. The division’s faculty and staff also are involved in internal development and support of laboratory information systems such as anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) and diabetes laboratories, tissue bank information system, gross, WSI and electron microscopy images as well as Digital Pathology PACS system, Telepathology and other laboratory software.
