Whole-Slide Imaging Analytics Laboratory
WSI Analytics Lab offers a whole-slide imaging service that provides high-resolution brightfield slide scanning, processing, and analysis by software algorithms and board-certified pathologists. The lab accepts glass slides and produces whole-slide digital images as well as publication-quality files ready for inclusion in papers and posters. Upon request, the lab can provide annotations, commentary and analysis by board-certified pathologists and machine-learning algorithms, such as nuclear/membrane IHC staining quantifications.
Our two scanners – the high-speed Roche Ventana DP 200 and the powerful Aperio ScanScope CS – generate brightfield-only scans of 1×3" and 2×3" slides. We do not offer fluorescent scanning at this time.
Roche Ventana DP 200 offers scanning at 20x and 40x magnification. It is used for high-volume slide archiving. It produces files in several formats, namely proprietary BIF, more open TIFF, and the still evolving WSI DICOM.
Aperio ScanScope CS can produce scans at 20x and 40x dry as well as 83x oil magnification. It creates files in SVS format. The system comes with proprietary image analysis software and is connected to a secured storage array that provides long-term storage for slide images — ideal protection for slides that degrade over time.
The recommended viewer for Aperio SVS files is provided by Leica. The recommended viewer for other pyramidal TIFFs is the open-source QuPath. Both viewers have to be installed before use. Copies of the viewers are provided with scan orders.
We also offer a priority service, re-slipping of damaged slides, and limited assistance with Aperio ImageScope viewer software.
